Welcome to the official documentation for the Cryologger project, an open-source scientific platform for cryospheric research. Cryologger provides robust, field-tested hardware and software systems designed for deployment in extreme polar environments.
This documentation covers all aspects of the project, including hardware design, data retrieval workflows, and API access.
Projects
🧊 Ice Tracking Beacon (ITB)
The Ice Tracking Beacon (ITB) is a lightweight, low-power tracking device designed for deployment on drifting sea ice and icebergs. It transmits GNSS and environmental data via Iridium SBD and is optimized for long-term autonomous deployments in remote Arctic regions.
🏔️ Glacier Velocity Tracker (GVT)
The Glacier Velocity Tracker (GVT) is a high-precision GNSS system for monitoring glacier motion and ice dynamics. It supports dual-frequency GNSS logging, local storage, and extended deployments on land-based ice.
REST API
Programmatic access to Cryologger data is available through the public REST API. You can use it to retrieve device metadata, time series data, and filtered results.
Publications
Cryologger has been used in peer-reviewed publications, scientific reports, and expedition deployments.
